Kit Kittredge-An American Girl

(2008)
3 Stars
All things considered I thought this was a pretty good movie. Naturally it was a bit on the cheesy side. What do you expect from an American Girl movie? Some of the acting is pretty bad (mostly from the child "stars") But there are several good actors in this film (Stanley Tucci, Juliet Benoche, and Joan Cusack to name a few) who make it fairly enjoyable for the adults who happen to be watching -because little girls don't take themselves to the movies.
Kit Kittredge is a 10 year old girl living during the depression of the 1930's. Her family, like everyone else's during the time, is forced to make sacrifices and adjustments. Even though it had a pretty predictable happy ending, I thought it painted a pretty good picture for it's intended audience (10 year old girls). Pretty straight forward without being overly depressing.
If you have a 10 year old daughter there are worse ways you could spend an hour and a half.
