Kentucky Fried Movie

(1977)

I don't know how this movie ended up in our DVD player, but you should take care that it never happens to you. This movie was worse than any Saturday Night Live skit movie I've seen. The one or two funny jokes in this GEM are grossly overshadowed by the abundance of low-brow comedy that tends to insult your intellegence.

Don't Bother. I don't know how this movie even got financed.

Awww, too harsh!

This was about as low budget as they come - practically a college film by the boys that brought the world Airplane!

It's very much a bunch of kids throwing everything against the wall and seeing what sticks. Very little sticks, but what does is classic.

Yes, it is about as low-brow as you can get, and if you're not expecting it going in, it's very off putting. Crass doesn't begin to describe some of the skits.

But if you can get past that, settle into a 1970s mindset, and accept the perversion of all that is good and decent in the world... then this film is for you.

The Bruce Lee spoof alone is worth the rental to me. Maybe it's because it was made the same year I was born. Maybe it's because I was in high school when I first saw it (and it seemed so counter-culture and cool) or maybe it's just finding all the hidden gems, but this one is actually in the "classics" category for me.

"It's 19 minutes after the hour, and now it's time for our daily feature The Astrological Hour. A quick reminder these reports are not intended to foster belief in astrology, but merely to support people who cannot take responsibility for their own lives."

Perhaps we were too harsh on this gem and you may have some points there but then you are the reason that we bought and subsequently watched this movie in the first place. I had never heard of the film and had no idea what to expect but I had seen it on your profile and thought what the heck. There were a couple of funny things but in my mind they were over shadowed by so many bad things that I couldn't help but give it the bad review.

I'd better put a disclaimer on my profile.
